The Cheltenham Festival is now less than two weeks away. Four days, 28 races and 14 Grade 1s, with stars such as Constitution Hill and Galopin Des Champs ready to make history. This year’s festival is shaping to be a classic.
It is estimated that there will be over 200,000 spectators in attendance over the four days of the festival. Many will be frantically searching through their wardrobe for that perfect outfit to wear. But how should we be dressed at the festival? Smart? Casual? Smart-casual?
Betano brand ambassador Kate Tracey answers your questions around the Cheltenham Festival dress code, fashion and trends.
Whilst there is no official dress code at Cheltenham Festival, you are encouraged to dress to feel you best. So, that encourages people to still dress smartly but also to wear whatever you feel most comfortable in.
It’s rather obvious, but the most important thing to think about is footwear. I would massively encourage people to only go in comfortable footwear. Now, that doesn’t mean that you cannot wear anything stylish, but something you’re comfortable in, easy to walk about in and that you’re happy to walk across all terrain of grass and concrete, and ideally with your toes enclosed as it can get quite crowded. Also, I think a bit of fancy dress can be quite fun…
Recently, we have seen a lot of claret which is ideal for me as a Villa fan! A lot of red-wine coloured hats and coats. In fact the whole theme throughout winter fashion this year seems to have been claret, maroon, burgundy, wine-coloured clothing which I’m expecting to see at Cheltenham this year. Along with leopard print, of course! It never seems to go anywhere and always adds a pop of fun and detail into women’s outfits.
I would highly recommend some stylish boots because you’ll be warm, you can walk around all day in them too, and boots are very Cheltenham in themselves and winter fashion in general. So definitely boots and maybe a little bit of a high heel too but something that is comfortable and easy to navigate through any weather.
