Bournemouth were impressive under Andoni Iraola last term, finishing 9th in the Premier League and amassing 56 points. His front-foot style of play takes fans back to the days of Eddie Howe, and the club is once again playing attacking football.
However, they lost some big players in the summer, with Dean Huijsen leaving for Real Madrid and Milos Kerkez signing for Liverpool. Whether Iraola can guide his talented squad to another top-half finish remains to be seen.
Here, we look forward to Bournemouth’s 2025/26 campaign and reveal your betting options and odds at Betano.
Bournemouth fans will look upwards this season and have one eye on European qualification as they build on last season’s mid-table success.
If you think the Cherries can do better than their 9th-placed finish last term, you can back them to secure a top-six finish at Betano, with pre-season odds of 10/1*.
Under their ambitious owners, Bournemouth are aiming for European football, so this could be their year, particularly now that they’ve held onto their talented manager following summer interest from several clubs.
Another good option for Bournemouth fans is to back the team to secure another top-half finish. They start the season priced at 11/8* for a top-half finish at Betano, which looks likely given their impressive campaign last time around.
But if you think losing some of their best players in the summer could spark issues on the south coast, you can back Bournemouth at 12/1* to finish in the bottom three for a return to the English Championship.
Though Bournemouth are now an established Premier League team, stranger things have happened, so it’s impossible to rule out a relegation battle.
Bournemouth enjoyed a superb 2024/25 Premier League campaign. Their ninth-placed finish was the club’s joint highest, matching their feat of the 2016/17 season under Eddie Howe.
Points-wise, though, it was Bournemouth’s best-ever campaign. They amassed 56 points in the Premier League, the first time the club has ever secured more than 50 points in English football’s top flight.
This achievement was thanks to an exceptional unbeaten run from November 30th to the start of February, during which the Cherries went on an 11-match unbeaten run, winning 3-0 at Old Trafford and 4-1 at St James’ Park. They also smashed Nottingham Forest 5-0 at home before their form took a dip.
In fact, Bournemouth looked on course for Europe for the first time in the club’s history, but from February 1st onwards, they only managed four wins from their final 15 league games, having to settle for a top-half finish.
So many players in the Bournemouth squad impressed, including Huijsen and Kerkez, who secured big-money moves away at the end of the campaign.
Justin Kluivert ended the season as the club’s top Premier League scorer, netting 12 times, while Antoine Semenyo managed 13 in all competitions. Brazilian striker Evanilson did a great job of replacing Dominic Solanke, scoring 12 goals in all competitions and establishing himself as Bournemouth’s new number nine.
So, while Bournemouth have lost some of their best players, they’ll be confident of another assault on the top half of the Premier League.
Given their relative success and exceptional performances in the 2024/25 season, it was little surprise that several big teams came calling for Bournemouth’s best players in the summer.
After just one season on the south coast after arriving from Juventus, Huijsen joined Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid revolution in a deal worth £50 million, a huge sum for the Cherries.
Hungarian full-back Kerkez was equally impressive for Bournemouth last season, and he joined Premier League champions Liverpool in a £40 million deal.
The other big departure from Bournemouth in the off-season was Jaidon Anthony, who secured a permanent transfer to newly-promoted Burnley.
Scottish Premier League giants Rangers took Max Aarons on loan, while midfielder Joe Rothwell joined the club for a small transfer fee.
The only player through the door at the time of writing is Adrien Truffert, who joined from Stade Rennais in an £11 million deal. Iraola sees Truffert as a direct replacement for Kerkez and will strengthen the Bournemouth back line.
Here’s an overview of the main transfers at Bournemouth:
