The magic of the FA Cup is very much alive in the 2024/25 season. Plymouth Argyle secured one of the biggest wins in the club’s history by knocking out Liverpool in the last round.
Newcastle United overcame a scare against Birmingham City in one of the season's most exciting games, winning 3-2 in a frenetic game at St Andrews.
Both Man City and Newcastle are among the favourites to win the FA Cup this season. Read on to learn how to bet outright on the 2024/25 FA Cup at Betano Sportsbook.
An outright bet on the FA Cup is a bet on the competition's winner. While you can bet on all FA Cup matches at Betano, an outright wager is concerned with which team lifts the famous old trophy at Wembley Stadium in May.
You can place an outright bet at any stage of the FA Cup before the final match itself.
Following Liverpool’s shock defeat to Plymouth Argyle in the last round, Manchester City are the current favourites to win the FA Cup in 2025. Let’s look at the teams who are most likely to win at Wembley at the end of this season:
Manchester City lost the 2023-24 FA Cup final to Manchester United, going down 2-1 at Wembley Stadium. Despite City’s domestic dominance since their takeover, they haven’t been great in the FA Cup, winning it only three times since 2010/11.
However, given that City are out of the Champions League and League Cup and are unlikely to retain their Premier League crown, Pep will probably take the FA Cup more seriously than usual.
They have a tie against Plymouth Argyle to look forward to but will need to be careful, given that the Pilgrims have already knocked Liverpool out of the competition this season.
It’s surely only a matter of time before Eddie Howe’s energetic Newcastle United win a trophy. They were so close in the League Cup against Manchester United two seasons ago and have reached the League Cup final again this year, though Liverpool stand in their way.
Eddie Howe takes all cup competitions seriously and will play his strongest team when Brighton visit St James’ Park in the next round.
At 5/1*, Newcastle are the second favourites to win the FA Cup this season. If they can avoid Manchester City in future rounds, the Magpies will certainly fancy their chances.
Holders Manchester United are still in with a shot at silverware this season, but they will have to navigate a tricky home tie against Fulham if they’re to progress to the next round of the FA Cup.
United’s home form has been abysmal this season, and while they should probably beat Fulham at Old Trafford in the fifth round, it won’t be straightforward.
At least history is on Manchester United’s side, as the club always tries to win the FA Cup, as proven by their 13 triumphs in this grand old competition.
Alongside Arsenal, Manchester United are the most successful team in FA Cup history, and if they win it again this year, they will be the first team since Arsenal in 2014 & 2015 to win back-to-back FA Cups.
Aston Villa haven’t featured in the FA Cup final since the last-ever final at the old Wembley Stadium, in which they lost 1-0 to Chelsea in 1999-2000.
Villa haven’t won the FA Cup since 1956-57, which was the club’s seventh FA Cup title. Like Newcastle, Villa have had to wait a long time for a domestic trophy, and given Unai Emery’s rejuvenation of Villa in recent seasons, 2025 could be the year that they lift the trophy.
They have a straightforward home clash against Cardiff City in the fifth round, so they shouldn’t have any issues there. They will hope for the luck of the draw in the quarter-finals, too, and will hope to avoid a trip to Manchester or Newcastle if they’re to have a realistic chance of winning the FA Cup at the end of the season.
Bournemouth have never won a major domestic honour. In fact, the Cherries’ promotion to the Premier League in 2014-15 was the first time Bournemouth had played in the top flight.
While Eddie Howe is rightly given the credit for leading Bournemouth to the top division, Andani Iraola looks to be the man who can take the Cherries to the next level.
Whether it be European qualification or an FA Cup win, Bournemouth have surprised so many this season with their attacking flair and ability to beat practically anyone on their day. At 8/1*, Bournemouth are an outside shot, but this is their best-ever chance of winning the FA Cup, and Cherries’ fans have a home tie against Wolves to look forward to in the fifth round.
