FA Cup Betting Markets & Odds

No other English competition throws clubs together quite like this one. Wednesday might mean European floodlights for the visitors. By Sunday, the same players could be ducking through a cramped tunnel while a packed non-league ground convinces itself an upset is on. Betano carries both the long Wembley chase and the individual ties among its football betting odds.

There is a small catch with FA Cup betting: two selections which sound almost identical can produce opposite results. A side can fail to win your 90-minute bet, hang around for half an hour more, take a shootout and still leave with exactly what it wanted. Choose it to qualify and the shootout counts. We'll come back to that, because it's the easiest mistake on the page to avoid.

Why Is the FA Cup Special?

The answer rather depends on who you ask. For one supporter it is the third-round draw; for another it is an away end they've never visited. The rest of us may simply enjoy the sight of a giant becoming more uncomfortable with every goalless minute.

The scale helps. There are 743 accepted clubs in the 2026/27 FA Cup, from the sides that began in early August to the Premier League names waiting until January. For most entrants, Wembley is a lovely daydream rather than a sensible target. Yet every one of them starts with a place in the same competition.

City have custody of the cup at present, courtesy of a 1-0 win against Chelsea last May. The decisive moment belonged to Antoine Semenyo, whose improvised second-half finish delivered number eight for Manchester City. Arsenal's total of 14 remains the record, although that won't make much difference if their name comes out beside a horrible away draw.

Key Dates for the 2026/27 FA Cup

The extra preliminary round got things moving on 8 August. After the preliminary stage come four qualifying rounds, which is the part of the competition where non-league clubs scrap for a place alongside the EFL sides.

Fourth round qualifying is marked down for 17 October, then League One and League Two enter on 7 November in round one proper. Round two follows on 5 December. The third round, and the arrival of the Premier League and Championship, is scheduled for 9 January 2027.

Round four has 13 February in the diary, followed by 6 March for the fifth and 3 April for the last eight. The semi-final weekend begins on 24 April. Then, finally, comes Wembley on Saturday 22 May 2027. Treat those as the FA's round markers, not a guarantee of Saturday at three; broadcasters will have their say.

Replays survive during qualifying. Once round one proper begins, they are gone. Level at the end of normal time? The proper-round tie carries on for another half-hour and can travel all the way to spot kicks. That is why a draw price can win even as one of the teams celebrates qualification.

FA Cup Outright Betting

Outright betting is the season-long option. You choose the club which you believe will end up holding the trophy on 22 May, and that team has to come through every tie on its route. Losing the final still means losing a standard winner bet.

The shortest prices usually belong to clubs with the deepest squads, for fairly obvious reasons. Of course, two equally fancied clubs can be handed wildly different roads within seconds of the balls coming out. Look at the likely route, not only the badge. A team also fighting on the Champions League betting front may have a packed spring, which could bring rotation at exactly the wrong moment.

I'm wary of writing off everybody outside the usual group. Palace finally had a major trophy to parade after the 2025 final. Leicester's breakthrough arrived four years earlier, on their fifth attempt at winning one of these finals. Neither run made the competition easy. They showed that “unlikely” and “impossible” aren't the same word.

FA Cup Match Betting Markets

How much is on the menu depends on the game. A Sunday television tie between two famous names will probably look very different from a qualifying fixture tucked away on Saturday afternoon. What appears beneath the live event is what you can actually choose.

Match Result or 1X2

This is the home-draw-away market most football bettors know. The finishing point matters more than the name. Ordinarily, 1X2 shuts at the end of normal time and its added minutes. Whatever happens during the extra half-hour, or from the spot, belongs to another question.

Say United are held at 2-2, stumble through extra time and finally squeeze home the last penalty. United are happily in the next round, but the draw was the successful 1X2 choice. Anyone who backed United in normal time was close, perhaps, but closeness doesn't settle the bet.

Team to Qualify

Here the cup question is stripped back: which club is in the next draw? It doesn't matter whether qualification arrives in 90 minutes, extra time or through the final penalty of a shootout.

This is the route for somebody thinking, ‘they'll get through somehow’, rather than demanding it happens inside 90 minutes. Read the slip before confirming. Home win and home team to qualify can be neighbours on the screen without meaning the same thing.

Both Teams to Score

For BTTS purposes, the next-round ticket is irrelevant. It wants one goal at either end during the stated period. A 1-1 result does the job for Yes; 4-0 doesn't, despite containing more goals overall.

How might the underdog approach it? That's often the interesting part. Some will defend the penalty area and hope for a corner. Others press, attack and accept the danger because a cautious defeat offers them nothing. The division label can't answer that on its own.

Total Goals

At 2.5, everything turns on whether a third goal arrives. Three or more favours Over; zero, one or two belongs to Under. Other totals may sit around it, depending on what's offered.

Extra time is the trap again. A 1-1 after 90 minutes can become 3-1 later and still settle a normal-time total at two goals. Count only the portion named in the market, not necessarily everything shown on television.

Correct Score

Call the precise score and you're in this market. A 2-0 prediction doesn't become a winner because the favourite happened to win 3-0.

The potential return can make a lopsided tie look tempting, but FA Cup line-ups are not always predictable and late consolation goals have ruined many decent guesses. The bet slip, unsympathetically, has no column for ‘nearly’.

Handicap Markets

Think of a handicap as a score adjustment used only to settle the wager. The favourite may be made to chase an imaginary deficit; alternatively, the outsider starts with something in its pocket.

Pause over the format before choosing. One warning: European and Asian versions handle certain level adjusted scores differently. The rules beside the market are a better guide than the name alone.

Goalscorers and Bet Builders

Seen a player price you like? Wait for the teams if you can. Twenty late minutes off the bench is not the same opportunity as a start, and the participation wording decides how either situation is treated.

Bet Builders put several compatible ideas from the same tie together. Result, goals, cards, corners and player shots are possible examples, rather than guaranteed options. Every chosen leg has to land. A fourth pick might make the displayed price bigger, but it also gives the match one more way to wreck the whole bet.

How to Judge the FA Cup Odds

I would begin with where the game is being played. An away trip to a compact ground, with the crowd almost on the touchline and a surface the visitors don't know, is not the same assignment as hosting that opponent on a wide Premier League pitch.

Next, wait for clues about the teams. A manager involved in the Premier League betting race might protect two or three players before an important league night. The underdog, meanwhile, has probably spent the week talking about nothing else. Rotation doesn't guarantee an upset, but it changes the gap between the sides.

Form deserves a proper look rather than a row of green and red symbols. Three defeats against the division's best can tell a kinder story than three points taken from its bottom clubs. Venue, chance creation and missing players fill in the rest. For second-tier sides, the Championship betting odds provide a useful wider view, although cup night brings its own nerves.

And check the diary. European travel, a midweek derby or three games in eight days can shape a starting XI. No manager walks into Friday's press conference and calls the cup his third priority. The eleven names released an hour before kick-off can be rather more candid.

Recent FA Cup Winners

Work backwards from City's 2026 success and the roll call goes Palace, Manchester United, City again and Liverpool for 2025 through 2022. Leicester had their afternoon in 2021; Arsenal won in 2020; the year before that, City put six past Watford. Chelsea and Arsenal complete this ten-season stretch. It is mostly a gathering of rich clubs, admittedly.

Chelsea know that pain especially well: runners-up in four of the past seven finals, including 2026. An outright slip doesn't pay for the walk up Wembley's losing steps.

Placing an FA Cup Bet at Betano

Head into football, find ENG FA Cup and decide whether you're staying for the season-long outright or opening one particular tie. Tap the pick, put in your stake and stop for a moment before confirming. Right competition? Right club? Right market and return? Good. It takes less time than explaining an accidental bet afterwards.

On match nights, selected games may move into live football betting. The numbers will react to goals, cards, penalties and the time left. They can move after a dominant spell too. Don't mistake a changing price for an instruction to bet quickly.

Anything currently running can be found with the sports betting offers. The useful part is in the terms, including expiry, eligible selections and any minimum price, so give those a proper look first. A promotion involving football does not necessarily cover every FA Cup market.

A Sensible Stake Still Matters

Cup football is chaotic by design, which is wonderful entertainment and a fairly good reason not to chase losses. Set the evening's limit before kick-off. If the favourite concedes after five minutes, the limit hasn't suddenly become negotiable.

The Safer Gambling Portal explains the tools available for managing an account and points towards further support. Your stake should be an amount you can lose without the rest of the week changing.

Saturday 22 May 2027 is the date set aside at Wembley. The precise kick-off remained unannounced at our last update.

Usually not. Three-way result betting tends to stop with normal time, whereas a qualification selection follows the tie through extra time and penalties. Check the wording before betting.
