League One Betting Odds

Ask some of the bigger clubs who've spent time in this division, and they'll tell you it's not straightforward to navigate League One. Ask Portsmouth, Sunderland, and Sheffield Wednesday fans, for instance, how tough their sides found it. League One is a compelling division and has seen the bigger clubs flounder and smaller sides shock the English football landscape.

At Betano Sportsbook, we introduce you to our League One football odds so you can explore the range of markets we offer in an always compelling division. There are many betting opportunities that you might find interesting throughout the 2025/26 season in England’s third tier.

What are League One Betting Markets?

Do you have good knowledge of League One? If you believe so, you can place a wager on some of the prevailing markets at Betano. Here are some of the most popular options if you want to bet on League One this season:

League One Winners

Being promoted is one thing, but doing so via second place or the playoffs carries a different weight than lifting the title. Clinching the League One trophy in May signifies that a team is the best in their division and has earned the right to celebrate.

The League One odds this season have been published, and if you think that one team will run away with the division at short odds, so fancy betting on another side, you can opt for an each-way bet to receive reduced winnings if they finish second.

Luton Town are the early favourites to win the 2025/26 League One title, while Cardiff City and Plymouth Argyle will be their likeliest challengers.

Relegation

Relegation from any division is unwanted, but the dreaded drop from League One into League Two puts you even further behind every fan's dream of being in the Premier League.

Remember that four teams get relegated from League One, so there is a more significant share of sides dropping from one division to a lower one than in any other league.

Doncaster, Port Vale, Wimbledon, and Bradford will be looking over their shoulders this season, while Burton Albion and Northampton Town may also struggle.

Top Goalscorer

Some current household names in English football have plied their trade in League One successfully early in their careers, like Ivan Toney, Dele Alli, Harry Kane, and many more. To climb up the football pyramid, you must prove your worth in front of the goal for a League One outfit.

Betting on the top goalscorer means you believe that all the circumstances suit a striker to thrive in front of goal by placing your bet on them to outscore everyone else in the division.

Charlie Kelman finished the 2024/25 season as the League One top scorer with Leyton Orient, but he has returned to his parent club, Queens Park Rangers, and will compete in the EFL Championship this season.

**The 2019/20 season was cut short due to the COVID pandemic, and Coventry City were declared winners on points per game average.

Birmingham City were the deserved winners of League One in 2024/25. They won the title with 111 points, losing only three league games all season. This remarkable feat was record-breaking, with Birmingham securing the most points ever in a Football League season, surpassing Reading’s tally of 106 points in 2005/06.

Backed by wealthy American owners, the Blues will likely do well in the Championship this year. The same is true of Wrexham, who have well-publicised Premier League aspirations.

Who are the Favourites to Win League One?

Luton Town are the clear favourites to win the 2025/26 League One title, starting the season with odds of 3/1* at Betano. It’s been a sensational fall from grace for the Hatters, who competed in the Premier League two seasons ago.

The Kenilworth Road outfit under popular boss Matt Bloomfield will be keen to put things right on the field and help the club back up to the second tier of English football at the first time of asking.

Cardiff City, who dropped into the third tier for the first time since the 2002/03 season, will also be part of the title charge this season, particularly if their summer takeover goes through. You can back the Bluebirds to win the League One title at 6/1*.

Other teams likely to challenge for the title are Plymouth Argyle (7/1*), Huddersfield Town (8/1*), and Bolton Wanderers (9/1*). You can bet on the League One title winners and all other outright markets today at Betano.
