Inside bets are bets placed on the central number grid of the roulette table. These bets include straight-up bets, which are wagers on individual numbers. 

Other types of inside bets are split bets, street bets, and column bets. These bets involve more than one number and are made by placing your chips on different sections of the grid. 

Outside bets are wagers on groups of numbers. When you look at a roulette table, you’ll see several boxes on the outside of the number grid where you can place your chips.  

By placing your chips in these boxes, you can bet on all the red or black numbers, low or high numbers, and even or odd numbers. You can also wager on columns of 12 numbers or three sets of a dozen numbers.
