Lightning Blackjack follows the same basic rules of classic blackjack, and you play directly against the dealer. Your objective is to end the round with a hand value higher than the dealer’s without going over 21 points and busting out of the game.  

The game is played with eight decks of regular playing cards. Jacks, Queens, and Kings are valued at ten points; Aces are either one or 11, depending on which works out better for your hand; and all number cards hold their face value. 

To join the game when betting time opens, select a chip from the choice on display, from £1.00 upwards, and place it on the designated betting spot. The game will begin once the time has lapsed, and your game host will deal out two cards each for you and them. You can see both cards in your hand, but only one of the dealer’s will be face up. 

After the initial deal, you are given a choice of plays based on your initial hand, including the following:  

• Hit: Take another card to try to improve your hand value. 
• Stand: Keep your current hand as it is.  
• Double: Double your initial bet. 
• Split: Split a hand of pairs into two separate hands. 

If at any time during play your hand goes over 21 points, you will bust out and lose the round. If you stick with a hand valued at 21 or less, the dealer will reveal their second card and proceed as per standard dealer play rules. The dealer must hit on a hand of 16 or less and stand on a hand of 17. If you end the round with a hand higher in value than the dealer’s, you win the game. 

There are only two possible outcomes in blackjack: either you win the round or lose, with a 1:1 payout on a regular winning hand. If you hit a blackjack (21 exactly), your payout is 3:2. All possible payouts in the game are listed in the table below: 

The bonus features in Lightning Blackjack are centred around the Lightning Multipliers. There are no side bet options; however, in certain circumstances, you can take out insurance. 

Lightning Rules 

If you wish to participate in the Lightning Rules, you must play an additional ‘lightning fee’, which is 100% of your initial base bet. When playing with Lightning Rules, you have a chance to win a multiplier between x2 and x25, which is applied to the following hand.  

Multiplier possibilities for winning hands are as follows: 

• Winning hand: 2x – 15x 
• Blackjack: 6x – 25x 

Multipliers 

After the initial betting round, the random Lightning Multiplier is revealed, and you can win it if you win the round. Multipliers are applied to your best hand and can be saved for up to 180 days. If you need to leave the game, your multiplier will be in the bank when you return. 

Insurance 

Insurance is offered if the dealer reveals an Ace for an up card. Insurance is against the dealer having blackjack and is offered at a value of one-half your existing bet.  

If you take the insurance, the dealer will peek at their face down card to see if they have blackjack. If not, the game continues, and the insurance bet is lost. If the dealer is holding blackjack and you are not, the round ends and the dealer wins the hand.
